1) Where I've been: maxing and relaxing.
2) Why I havent' posted (see 1).

I'm back. McGreevey's gay. Senator Corzine wants his job.

A friend of mine who works in Philadelphia's city hall tells me the whole McGreevey mess is a result of machinations by the Corzine-for-governor camp. Stories like this make me believe him.

Houston, the Eagles haven't landed...let's eat some wings

Yet another year without a superbowl for the Philly fan. But that's OK. 'Cause tomorrow is Wing Bowl 2004. Some sauce, a few hot wingettes, and an admission fee most Philadelphians can swallow (free) and we'll forget all about the hotel suites, limos and giant foam fingers we had already purchased for Houston.

You can find some of the scoop on the Wing Bowl at Angelo Cataldi's website.

For the non-Philadelphia, Wing Bowl is a wing eating contest on overdrive. Contestants are expected to have a theme, an entourage, and an appetite for wings. The current reigning champion is El Wingador , a machine of an eater who has bested professional eaters from around the country.

Philadelphia. I'm just so proud right now.

I wrote something in my Daily Kos diary the other day that I think deserves some attention.

Here's most of it:

I remember a few short weeks ago Dean supporters (and I was one of them) growing angry with constant attacks on Dean about his electability. In fact, one of the chief complaints I had was that these attacks were undermining Dean for the general election. Most of us were afraid that if Democrats started perpetuating the "unelectable" meme then it would get cemented into place by the media. The meme itself would damage Dean's chances by becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy.

And yet, here I see many, many Deaniacs doing exactly the same thing [ed: to Kerry] that was being done to our candidate a few weeks ago. This is childish behavior, and I'm sad to see it from people I thought were above such things.

"Math is hard"

If Ivy at "The Keen Meme Memo" is right about Dean's hard Iowa count, Dean may surprise some people tonight.

I give this credence because Tom Schaller at DailyKos and Chris Suellentrop of Slate are hearing the same things.

Man, that's too many links.

Philadelphia Fandom

Oh god. I can't take this. 3 years inna friggin row we get to the NFC championship game and get spanked. 2 of those years, the spanking occurred in our own damn house.

It ain't fair. It just ain't fair.

And it ain't McNabb's fault. It'd be nice if he had any receivers he could count on. With Westbrook out, the Eagles have exactly one gamebreaker. McNabb himself. And if he gets hurt, then there is no one to step up.

Note to Andy Reid: You best pick up Terrel Owens next year, or there will be severe fanbase consequences.

Well, now that I've gotten over the Iggles actually beating Green Bay after what looked like a disastrous start, I can worry about politics for a few days. That is, until Thursday, when I have to start worrying about the Eagles again. Ish!

From Taegan Goddard's Political Wire:

Dean Slips in New Hampshire

ARG's moving average has Dean going from 36% to a 33% the next day. That implies that last night's opinion sample showed a marked drop for Dean. It may simply be fluctuation around the mean. We should have a better handle on things tomorrow. If Dean plummet's tomorrow, then it might mark the beginning of a trend. If he only loses a point or two, or if he stabilizes, I'd bet it's simply the result of a bad sample.

Oh, and Josh Marshall is really saying everything I want to say or even could say about the O'Neil Flap:

First down Freddy Mitchell, I dislike you less every day.

In 2001, the philadelphia 76ers were actually a good team. They creamed the competition on a regular basis, and actually managed to make it to the championship against a vastly superior Lakers team. Hell they even stole a game from the Lakers, IN LA.

Now we have the following situation:

Philadelphia's win/loss ration is hovering below 500 (at 0.456) and they are third in their conference. The good news is that Boston is in second with a won/loss ratio of 0.486, and New Jersey in first with 0.588. These teams are still within the Sixers grasp. But how the mighty have fallen.

Compare this to the Central conference, where the top three teams (Indiana, Detroit, and New Orleans) have the following ratios (0.730, 0.639, 0.629) respectively...which forces one to ask: can one be proud that one's team regularly beats up patsies?

Yes, I am aware that Alan Iverson couldn't play for a few months
